Anthropological Stroll through the Town
< Back to Topic GardenThe article “An Anthropological Stroll through the Town – Ethno-Fashion between Textile Traditions, Must-Haves and Exotic Glamour” is published in German.
When asked “What comes to your mind when you hear “Ethno-Fashion”?” the answers often are: Leather, pearls, Africa, coloured designs, animal prints and others. Often these associations are produced by adverts and other stimuli to which we are exposed in the shopping streets in the cities. We have the impression that all over a sudden we are surrounded by a very new trend of exotic clothes. But Ethno-Fashion is nothing new: Its revival every now and then is professionally planned and the changing inspirations and intentions explained. In this article various examples are analysed, also with regards to their meaning for the consumer.
